The Detroit Red Wings have eliminated the last important restricted free agent from their list, but we don't know for how much. The Wings signed forward Justin Abdelkader to a new 2-year deal on Monday, but the cap numbers were not disclosed, nor was it immediately disclosed whether or not it was a one-way or two-way deal, for keeping the team's budget together.
In 50 games with the Red Wings, Abdelkader only managed 3 goals and 3 assists, but was also registering between 3rd and 4th line minutes in a game, so his scoring figures are skewed to minutes played and likely to his linemates as well. I have a sneaky suspicion that Abdelkader will likely fall into that trap yet again, especially with the addition of Mike Modano this off-season.
