Mayers Signs in San Jose

The Sharks added some depth on Wednesday by signing veteran forward Jamal Mayers to a 1-year deal worth $600,000. Mayers split the 2010 season between the Maple Leafs and the Flames, playing in 77 games and picking up 14 points (3 goals and 11 assists). His most notable statistic last season was his penalty minutes, picking up 131 minutes in penalties during the year, which should qualify him as an okay pick-up if you need points from that stat, otherwise he's just your typical 3rd or 4th line checking forward that does fairly well in the faceoff circle.
