On Wednesday afternoon, news came down from the Flames that they have re-signed soon-to-be 39-year old forward Craig Conroy to a new 1-year deal, worth $500,000. The word is that the deal is also a two-way deal, which means that Conroy he would have a cheaper salary in the AHL, but I can't see him go down there at all, but that's neither here nor there.
In 2010, Conroy played in 63 games for the Flames, scoring 3 goals and 12 assists for the club, dropping him pretty far down in the ranks and likely removing his name from practically all consideration for the hockey pools this year. He will be considered a roster player to start the season, but since the Flames are over-budget to start the season, he will likely be taking the spot of a younger, more expensive player, if he does play, just to make sure all the math works.
