Sabres Buyout Kennedy

The Buffalo Sabres couldn't walk away from the arbitration decision that gave Tim Kennedy a 1-year, $1 million deal, but they could put him on unconditional waivers on Monday, only to see him clear on Tuesday, thus buying him out on the same day, making him an unrestricted free agent.

In the age where $1 million doesn't seem like a lot of money, the Sabres are a budget team in the NHL and already had plans for some of their youth to come in and take Kennedy's spot on the left wing, including a guy like Tyler Ennis, so they need all the room they could get. It's really just a matter of business, according to GM Darcy Regier, who had a really good audio interview here.
