Just having some fun looking at some numbers, teams and players, I thought I would have a look at teams by division by their top three forwards, two defense and goalie by points last season. They have to be signed on right now as well.
It's hard not to like what Washington has to offer going into training camp, there is plenty of potential for points at all turns. All three forwards are packed with offense, they have the best offensive defenseman and a goalie that is good enough to let in less goals than they score on most nights. I would have to think that there is going to be a major rush to pick up those Capitals in the draft this year.
Tampa Bay has the next best trio of forwards, in my opinion... so much scoring talent and Lecavalier took a year off, in terms of his production. Kubina and Hedman look like a pretty good pair of defenders and one was a rookie last year, so there is lots of potential to reach.
I like the Thrashers bottom three in Enstrom, Hainsey and Mason, maybe a touch more than the Hurricanes Pitkanen, Gleason and Ward, but not by much. Enstrom is developing into one hell of an offensive talent. I would take Ward over Mason though, but I'm not sure how much more that would tip the scales to Carolina.
There is still some room to move before camp, but I just thought I would have a look right now.
