The Sabres made 14 cuts to their active training camp roster on Monday, including forwards Marcus Foligno and Zack Kassian, two young forwards that have been on the cusp of the big leagues for some time now.
The Sabres are another one of those teams that spent a lot of money in the off-season, picking up some more free agents, instead of moving forward with some of their young talent that they have in the system. Having new ownership, with deep pockets, will help that feeling along. From the outset, Foligno and Kassian were likely behind the 8-ball going into the camp, so they will try and figure a way onto the big club's line-up from the minors this season.
Expect call-ups through the year, but do not project their numbers any higher than regular called up players.
