On Thursday, unrestricted free agent forward Cory Stillman is expected to announce that he is retiring from the NHL after 16 seasons between six clubs.
Stillman played 1,025 games between Calgary, St. Louis, Tampa Bay (Stanley Cup), Carolina (Stanley Cup), Ottawa and Florida, scoring 278 goals and 449 assists for 727 career regular season points. Stillman was a very good hockey pool player for a number of seasons, topping out at 80 points in 81 games in 2004 with the Lightning.
Known more as a playmaker, Stillman did a great job working with scoring forwards, helping them add a few more points to their seasons and making them into better players.
Stillman is reportedly taking a job with the Florida Panthers in their front office, working in player development. As an unrestricted free agent this Summer, he shouldn't have been on many lists going into hockey pool drafts, but now you can officially strike him off.
