Suspensions on Thursday

On Thursday, the league's new Director of Hockey Operations (and the number other titles he holds) was busy handing out some suspensions in regards to the amended rules to Boarding and Illegal Checks to the Head.  The first recipient of his wrath was Flames forward Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond, who was given a 5-game suspension, which meant the remaining preseason games and one regular season game.

Letourneau-Leblond is not considered to be much of a fantasy player, unless your pool has points for penalty minutes, so this is not much of an issue.

Flyers forward Jody Shelley took the worst of the two suspensions, as he was handed a 10-game ban for his hit on Toronto's Darryl Boyce, which ended up giving the Leafs forward a broken nose. Shelley, a repeat offender, was the real guinea pig of the new rules, as he'll be missing five regular season games, as a part of his sentence.

Shelley, also known more for his penalty minutes than his scoring, will also not be missed on draft night.
