Swanny Watch: Thursday. It had to be a shot to the gut for John, watching the Calgary Flames post a big W at home without Chad Johnson in net. The watch continues into Thursday night, where the news doesn't get any better for John, as the sands of time keep pouring through the hourglass this week.
The Minnesota Wild are at home tonight and they are welcoming the defensively deficient Dallas Stars to town, but much to John's chagrin, it will be Darcy Kuemper getting the start against the lesser opponent, giving his goalie, Devan Dubnyk, a well-deserved night off. At the other end, it is expected that we'll see Kari Lehtonen, as he has re-assumed the number one job for the Stars and Antti Niemi has already had a start (a loss) this week. No one took Kuemper in the pool, so Dale C. has the only pool goalie in this match-up tonight.
The Stars have dropped their first two games of this 3-game road trip, which bodes well for the Wild and offers another shot to John's gut. The Wild only have one more game this week, Saturday, at home to the Predators, where I think we can expect Dubnyk to get a start there.
