The New York Rangers had a couple of scratches on Thursday night, when they faced off against the Maple Leafs, as defenseman Kevin Klein was suffering from an upper-body injury, which he either suffered or made worse at the morning skate. He's currently listed as day-to-day, but it is allowing Adam Clendening to draw in and take some time on the ice. The second scratch was of the healthy variety, as forward Pavel Buchnevich is finding his way upstairs these days, as we wonder if the long schedule is getting to him a little bit. It could be a bit of a long finish to the year for him.
Of the two scratches, Marcin likely misses Klein more than Tony misses Buchnevich, since Marcin has a dark horse chance at maybe, possibly making the money spots again this season. Okay, 44 points is a bit of a stretch to make before the end of the year, which is only a little better than six weeks long.
The Tampa Bay Lightning were certainly aware that Jonathan Drouin was the possibility of being a scratch, since they were able to call up Cory Conacher in good time for an appearance last night against the Flames. Drouin was under the weather on Thursday night and was unable to go and he'll be day-to-day for the time being.
This is just another small hit to Wes' team this season, but his team continues to find a way up the standings despite some of these hits. He has seen his team leapfrog a couple more spots and now sits in 14th place this year.
