Swanny Watch is reaching fever pitch now, with Saturday now upon us and still no win for John S.. Action gets started early on Saturday, so we'll do this post with a lot of probables and not as many confirmations as we'd normally prefer.
Magnus Hellberg (N/A) versus Devan Dubnyk (John S.)
John does get a start on Saturday with the Wild playing host to the Rangers. The Rangers did play last night, losing to the Panthers in the shootout, traveling overnight to Minnesota, so it seems like this is the perfect chance for the Rangers to start Magnus Hellberg and play for that win. This is an unconfirmed starter on the Rangers side, as they could still go with Antti Raanta, which would mean Stacey's goalie could really put a damper on John's chances with a win for the Rangers.
Corey Crawford (Marcin) versus Frederik Andersen (Brian)
The Maple Leafs are celebrating their history with some throwback uniforms tonight, with the Blackhawks in town and it turns out to be a big money game too. Brian's only start of the day comes from Toronto and his team starts the day, 4 points up on Dale's team. Toronto doesn't necessarily match-up all that well against Chicago, but if Andersen can steal this game, it will be a well-deserved 2 points.
Sergei Bobrovsky (Mike) versus Thomas Greiss (Dale B.)
In one of the two afternoon games on Saturday, Dale B. gets his only start to try and shrink that 4-point gap to 1st place with a start from Thomas Greiss and the Islanders. The Islanders are a point out of the last wild card, also chasing Toronto in this case too and they have to face one of the best teams in the East this season tonight.
Richard Bachman (N/A) versus Cam Talbot (Marcie)
The pool's second duo has their only possible start taken away by the Canucks tonight, as they have opted to go with the number three, Richard Bachman tonight against the Oilers. This is bad news for Brenda & Seward, as as Marcie, whose team sits 3 points back, will likely (unconfirmed) get a start from Cam Talbot and the offensively gifted Oilers.
Jonathan Bernier (Eric) versus Martin Jones (Wes)
Both goalies unconfirmed in the other late game tonight, but Eric is hoping that Jonathan Bernier can go on back-to-back nights, so his team can somehow find a way to 3rd place again. Bernier has been hot for the Ducks and has played a lot in John Gibson's absence. The Ducks played last night, so it could just as easily be Jhonas Enroth for the Ducks too, up against the Pacific Division leaders.
Braden Holtby (Jeremy) versus Andrei Vasilevskiy (Ryan)
Jeremy's team has dropped right out of the 3rd place race, as his team now sits 19 points back of the last money spot, but that doesn't mean his team can't still play spoiler, as his goalie can really give Ryan's team some fits tonight, as their goalies match-up for a game in Tampa tonight. Ryan is 2 points back and tied for the Mover & Shaker this week, so things are running well for his team, can that carry over to tonight?
Jake Allen (Mike) versus Mike Smith (Marcie)
Neither goalie has been confirmed here, but it seems very probable that it will be Allen versus Smith, giving Marcie another start to try and claim 3rd place back. The Coyotes have been playing like a team with nothing to lose, while the Blues have just been getting by and they might have to back their way into the playoffs, if they're not careful.
