The Tampa Bay Lightning not only got rid of the 2018 cap hit of Valtteri Filppula's today, they were able to take care of most of the remaining cap hit of Mark Streit, who they acquired from Philadelphia for Filppula, flipping him to their state rivals in Pittsburgh for a 4th round pick in a couple summers from now.
The Penguins were able to add even more depth to their blueline with this veteran presence in Streit, as they have had some pretty poor luck with their defense corps this year, due to injury, and the 39-year old Swiss could be a very good fit for their team.
Scott may be sad to see one of the more reliable players go from his beloved Flyers, especially to the rivals across the way, but he does have him on his pool team and Scott is only 29 points out of the money. Streit could help him go on a run, if he gets hot with the high-scoring Penguins. That could be something to watch.
