The first deal of the regular season dropped on the pool on Monday night, when I wasn't looking of all times, of course. The Blackhawks and Penguins swapped defenders in the evening, as you can see above. Neither defender was deemed a really good fit for either team, so there was a deal struck and the Penguins sweetened the pot on the cap-strapped Hawks, retaining about a third of Scuderi's salary, which is not reflected above, to help out with the rising costs of business.
Daley is the main focus of this deal, as he was taken in the pool by Cindy and I'm sure that if her team was a little closer to the top of the heap, this would be a much more exciting deal for her, as Daley might be able to find some more quality minutes with the Penguins, as they try and re-establish their identity after a coaching change already this year.
The 32-year old rearguard didn't really mesh offensively with the Blackhawks, only registering 6 points in 29 games, but with Kris Letang currently out of the Pittsburgh lineup and Scuderi being a healthy scratch of late, this move makes a lot of sense.
Cindy's team opened the week with 6 points and has improved her 19th place standing, now sitting only 2 points back of 18th after Monday night. Her team is still 44 points out of the money, but Daley could put a small dent in that, with some better offensive output in Pittsburgh.
