Fleury to Undergo Concussion Protocol
Reports out of Pittsburgh are saying that their number one goalie, Marc-Andre Fleury, will now miss 1-to-2 weeks undergoing the NHL's concussion protocol. There was no indication about what point in time Fleury suffered the head injury, but it was after the game against the Capitals on Monday night, when he started to feel the symptoms and the team had them checked after practice on Tuesday.
Pittsburgh isn't quite having the season that everyone thought they would be having and it is reflected in the standings, where they don't sit in a playoff spot, as of right now. Fleury's numbers, on the other hand, are not terrible, ranking 15th in pool scoring, with 13 wins and 31 points this season. Still a 1st round pick in this pool.
The hope for John R. is that the severity of the concussion isn't too great and there isn't very many lingering effects or have it cause many more problems down the road this season. His team is still mired in 27th place, 8 points from even climbing out of the basement and without his 1st round pick, it will be an even tougher slog.
He may have wanted to invest heavily in the PIM pool at the Week Nine Waiver Draft, since a comeback is not conceivably in the cards.
