Race to the Sin Bin (Dec 26)

Ding!  Ding!  Ding!  There's no better way to celebrate Boxing Day than with a steady stream of pool hockey players to the penalty box, am I right?  Now that we have a proper race to the PIM pool, we'll have some regular updates, although the numbers are quite simple to look at on the standings page.

Wes will open the weekend with a much better look ahead to the weekend, currently 4th in the week with 11 PIM and a 37-minute lead for 1st place in the race.  His most notable game may be the Detroit/Nashville game, where he has a couple of players good for the odd minor or two in forwards Mike Ribeiro and James Neal.  The two have been good for 87 PIM combined this season, so that's one to keep an eye on.

In 2nd place in the race, Brian has an eye on the Buffalo/Boston game, where he has his top penalty minute-getter in Brad Marchand, who has 54 PIM, on top of his more important 15 goals, in a season where he is really doing it all for the Bruins.

The two Dale's are only 6 minutes behind Brian for 2nd place and have had solid runs of late and both may or may not be watching this race, but whether they like it or not, they're in it.  Dale B. added some help in this race in Antoine Roussel of the Stars and he goes tonight with Dallas in St. Louis to take on the Blues.  That could be a very hotly contended game in the Central Division, so hold tight there.

Dale C., on the other hand, doesn't quite have the same rough & tumble kind of players going tonight, rather his most prolific goon tonight will be Brandon Dubinsky of the Blue Jackets, who only has 30 PIM to date, less than Dale B.'s 2nd-best player tonight, Columbus' Scott Hartnell.

Finally, Derek & Dan, the other committed team to this pool, sit in 5th place going into Saturday night, 42 minutes out of 1st, and he'll have some help, most notably the PIM leader in the NHL, Vancouver's Derek Dorsett, who will finally have a division game against the Oilers tonight, which could get busy, if all goes well.

Ring the bell, let's get the goons going!
