Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Dec 23)
A surprise scratch to some in the Anaheim circles, but Ducks forward Chris Stewart was up in the press box for the last game before the break, visiting the New York Rangers. There didn't appear to be any big reason why, but only 6 goals and 10 points in 31 games could be considered a reason or maybe 2 goals, a -2 rating and only 5 SOG in the last five games is a reason too. Hard to say.
Ryan didn't put a lot of stock into Stewart and rightly so, taking him in the 13th round, 334th overall in the draft. At this point, he is getting about the bang for the buck he spent on this pick, as Stewart's numbers have him in that neighbourhood for overall scoring, so that isn't too bad. The Ducks obviously want more though.
It appears that Cody Ceci's injury is going to cost him another game or two, as the Ottawa Senators have placed the young defender on the Injured Reserve, ahead of Tuesday night's game against Florida. It will be retroactive to the weekend, where he suffered the upper-body injury, so it shouldn't be a big deal in the end.
Going on the IR does scratch the projected games from your roster and Scott had a couple of those happen on Tuesday night, as Michael Frolik of the Flames also hit. Both players were struck from the remaining games this week, starting on Saturday. This means he is among the pool lows, with 13 games projected in the last couple days of the week.
