Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Dec 11)

An illness forced Calgary Flames forward Jiri Hudler from the lineup on Thursday night with the Buffalo Sabres in town. Hudler has been a scratch a few more times than one would have thought already this season, but having an actual reason to be in the press box, rather than the coaching staff just going with a lineup that won without him the night before, it is at least somewhat tolerable.

Grant's team is actually making some waves this week, jumping out of the basement, as his hot, cold and frigid season continues.  His team's 16 points is only a couple off the pace for the Mover & Shaker, through four nights this week.

The Montreal Canadiens are on a bit of a cold streak of their own this week, as they continued to slide with a 3-2 loss to the Red Wings on Thursday night, increasing their losing streak to four games.  In that one, defenseman Nathan Beaulieu was tipped as a player bound for the press box as a healthy scratch, despite having some very reasonable numbers this year.  I would imagine he'll be back in this weekend, before it is all said and done.

It's annoying to pick up a player in the Waiver Draft, have him activated in the week, only to see he was the victim of a healthy scratch.  Cindy has been exceptionally unlucky this season, but with the selection of Beaulieu, her team won't be the Lady Byng leaders for too long, as he has amassed a good total of PIM already this year.
