Goalie Announcements (Mar 5)

It's an 11-game schedule today and it all gets started rather early, an 11am MT faceoff between the Wild and the Sabres, so we'll get to the goalies nice and early this morning, checking on who is confirmed to go in at the very least.

We can start with the early game, where the Sabres will turn to Robin Lehner (Derek & Dan) again, taking on a pretty good Wild team at the moment, where we expect Devan Dubnyk (Derek W.) to start today.  Not much doing in the standings for this game, as neither team are in the top half of the standings in the Mover & Shaker race this week.

Our current leader of the Mover & Shaker race, Scott, won't have a goalie going tonight, as his only possible game, the late game between Vancouver and San Jose, will see James Reimer (John S.) taking to the net for the first time for the Sharks, as they host the Canucks and likely Ryan Miller (Clayton) in the second half of a home and home series.

Scott's nearest competitor, Brian, who seems to be in every post these days, is also without a goalie on this busy Saturday, as his only chance would come from Los Angeles, where Jonathan Quick (Brenda & Seward) will get the call for the Kings, when they play against their division rivals from Anaheim.  Their starter has yet to be determined, at the time of the post.

Coming from a different angle, but getting the same result, our pool leader, Jeremy, takes a 1-point lead into Saturday's action and his nearest competition already has a goalie starting today, see paragraph above, but his options have also been nixed, as Philipp Grubauer (non-pool) is getting the call for Washington today, as they invade Boston and play against Tuukka Rask (Dale C.).

Let's see, what else do we have here of note... Brenda & Seward's only goalie was mentioned already, Brian doesn't have a keeper, John P.'s only option was nixed in the early afternoon game nod, Neil's two goalies will also get a view at the bench (both of them!) and that pretty much rounds out the money teams there.  What a snoozer for the money race, eh?  Geez, why am I even doing this post?

At the time of publishing this post, these goalies have been confirmed... Joni Ortio (Dropped) versus Marc-Andre Fleury (John R.) in Pittsburgh, Calvin Pickard (non-pool) gets the call for Colorado against the Predators, Jonathan Bernier (Cindy) is in for the Leafs against the Sens, Eddie Lack (Wes) is going against Tampa Bay, Steve Mason (Derek W.) has been tapped for the Flyers against Columbus, Mike Condon (John R.) against Ondrej Pavelec (Stuart) in Winnipeg and it will be Louis Domingue (Derek & Dan) again for the Coyotes against the Panthers.

That's it.  That's all I know.
