When it rains, it pours at the NHL Department of Player Safety.
Another suspension dropped on Thursday, as the Colorado Avalanche will now be without their captain, Gabriel Landeskog, for three games, as he delivered an exceptionally blatant cross-check to the head of Anaheim's Simon Despres.

The Avalanche are in a soft spot in the schedule, where there are a few days between games and that means that Landeskog won't be eligible to return until Sunday, March 20th, when they head to Edmonton to face the Oilers.
This is also a pretty big blow to an Avalanche team that is battling for a playoff spot in the West, where these three games will run through some of the Western Canadian teams and could be some big points in their run.
In the hockey pool, Landeskog belongs to the goon squad that Wes owns and he has been a contributor in that cause, ranking up 60 PIM in 65 games this season. Wes' team still has a decent handle on things, but his lead is getting chipped away, a couple minutes here and a couple minutes there.
