Broken Foot for Vasilevskiy

On Thursday morning, the Tampa Bay Lightning announced that they had recalled journeyman goaltender Edward Pasquale from the AHL and shortly thereafter, news started to creep out that he was going to be taking the spot of the team's number one, Andrei Vasilevskiy, due to a fractured foot.

There was no immediate word on how long the Lightning expect their number one is supposed to be out quite yet, but it will be in the 3-to-4 weeks range to start, at least, which is bad news for the club.

In 13 appearances this season, the 24-year old has already posted 9 wins and 21 points, ranking him 21st overall in hockey pool scoring, 3rd among all goalies, through Wednesday night's action.

This comes as an even greater blow to Dale C.'s chances at hockey pool success this season, as he took the Russian netminder with the 2nd overall pick and as much as he wasn't quite getting that kind of return through the quarter-pole of the season, there was still plenty of upside to have with him.  Here's hoping that the injury isn't nearly as severe and with suitable protection of his foot, he could be back in the net on the lower-end of the timetable.

Dale's team currently ranks 21st in the standings and is among a handful of teams vying for the Basement Dweller spot this week, with only 4 points through Wednesday night.
