Morning Player Notes (Nov 22)

After two games back in the lineup over the weekend, Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Andrew MacDonald was a healthy scratch again on Wednesday night, but thankfully for the Flyers, their salary cap situation can bear the load of his $5 million cap hit in the press box every night.  The 32-year old has appeared in eight games this season and has only picked up a single assist.

I don't think MacDonald is long for the hockey pool now, Tony will have to make the move to improve his blueline, one would have to believe.  Tony's team has been doing well this week, already having picked up 13 points, but he'll still have a pretty decent pick to start the Waiver Draft, since his team currently sits in 18th.

The Pittsburgh Penguins welcomed back Sidney Crosby to the lineup last night and he had a big night in his return, but more importantly, someone had to come out of the lineup and that again was 21-year old rookie Daniel Sprong.  Sprong drew back in for a couple of games, but was a -1 in both games and his game just hasn't seemed to fit in with the Penguins and his name has appeared in trade rumours of late, but clearly nothing has materialized there yet.

I'm not sure a trade out of town would help to save his placement on Jesse's hockey pool team, when the Waiver Draft comes along.  The 15th place team in the standings, after Wednesday night, needs an offensive boost and it'll need to drop some dead weight, like Sprong, who has 4 assists in 14 games this season.
