Goalie Announcements (Nov 11)

On this solemn day of reflection, the NHL puts on a pretty solid schedule for the Sunday of Week Six, as there are seven games to be had to cap off the week.

Troy and Mike lead the way in the weekly scoring race, separated by only a point at the start of play on Sunday, while the duo of Kristy & Don are only 3 points back, Neil and Jeremy are a shutout back of top spot now too.

At the bottom, Clayton and Scott each have 16 points and seem destined for a tie-breaker today, will they have any starts in the crease on this Sunday?  There are five teams hoping not, as these teams are only 2 points clear of the Basement, with a lot of action to come.

Brian has the only team of the nine that hasn't qualified for Week Seven in the goalie survivor pool and he should have one more chance at it today, if things go his way today.

Devan Dubnyk (Wes) versus Chad Johnson (N/A)
Unconfirmed starters for the early game today, but there was some rumblings that Chad Johnson was going to be the starter again for the Blues, taking a start away from the pool at the end of the week.  Wes' team sits at 24 points this week, well back of the Mover & Shaker, but he should be getting a start here, trying to close that gap late on.

Mike McKenna (N/A) versus James Reimer (Dale C.)
Dale's team is well clear of the Basement this week, but still trails the Movers by 10 points, so this game will be more about the points in the overall standings, as his team starts to make positive strides up the standings.  He sees his Florida keeper, James Reimer, get a key start against the Senators in an afternoon tilt, looking for 2 points.

Darcy Kuemper (Stuart) versus Braden Holtby (Stacey C.)
Neither starter for this afternoon's game in Washington was confirmed, but it does seem likely that these are the two that we are going to see.  The Coyotes need Kuemper to go back-to-back, while the Caps aren't nearly as desperate, but will still show the visiting dogs a tough time.  Stacey needs the win here, he has one of the five teams only 2 points clear of the Basement Dweller.

Cory Schneider (Tony) versus Connor Hellebuyck (Jeremy)
This appears to be the only starts for both Tony and Jeremy, the game going on in Winnipeg tonight, between the Devils and the Jets.  Jeremy's team is hunting for the Mover & Shaker this week, only 5 points back of the top spot in the week, Tony 6 points back of Jeremy, so there could be something to play for this week for the home team's goalie.

Malcolm Subban (Eric) versus Jaroslav Halak (Stacey M.)
Both the Golden Knights and the Bruins are playing on back-to-back nights, but out of necessity, the Bruins will have to go back to Halak, while the Golden Knights should be confident enough to pit Subban against his former team tonight.  Subban wasn't confirmed at the time of the post, but it does seem very likely.  Eric and Stacey are tied this week at 24 points, 8 points behind the Mover & Shaker lead, which does seem out of reach on the last night of the week.

Mike Smith (Brian) versus Martin Jones (Brenda & Seward)
The Calgary Flames are finishing their California road trip in San Jose tonight, on back-to-back nights, no less.  That means that Mike Smith will get the net tonight, giving Brian his last gasp at survival in the goalie pool.  Brenda & Seward should expect a start from Martin Jones tonight, but I don't know if that's necessarily guaranteed, given how poorly the Sharks have been lately.

Semyon Varlamov (Wilton) versus Cam Talbot (Mike)
We know that Mike will get one last shot at the Mover & Shaker from the crease tonight, because Talbot was confirmed this morning by the Oilers, but the Avalanche could go one of two ways, but I don't know why they wouldn't lean towards their number one tonight.  Wilton could really use the start too, as his is one of the five teams 2 points clear of the Basement Dweller.  Big game at either end of the standings.
