Morning Player Notes (Nov 17)

Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron was roughed up pretty good last night in Dallas after taking a rough hit along the boards. He was able to finish the game, but the bumps and the bruises to the upper-body may be enough to keep him out of Saturday night's contest in Arizona.  For now, Bergeron is considered to be questionable for tonight's game and if he indeed misses it, he will only thought to be day-to-day, since he did finish last night's game and is probably close to playing.

I'm sure Eric has his fingers crossed for a return to action tonight, as his team currently sits in the Basement Dweller spot after Friday night, only picking up 7 points through the first five nights of the week.  His team trails three others that have 9 points, so it's going to be a tight race to the finish down below.

The Blues were in Vegas to take on the Golden Knights on Friday and they did so without Alexander Steen, who was a scratch in the mid-afternoon, the team citing an upper-body injury of his own.  There wasn't much, in terms of details, on the injury, but he is considered to be day-to-day.  The Blues play on back-to-back nights as well on Saturday, taking on the Sharks, so it will be interesting to see if he dresses for that game.

Taking Steen's spot in the lineup was the return of Brayden Schenn, who was given the green light from his upper-body injury on Friday.  Schenn did get in on the scoring in the 4-1 win over the Golden Knights on Friday, making it a successful return.

So, it was a lost game for Stacey C. and a gained game for Dale C. in the standings last night.  Neither team has fared too well in the games played department, both in the bottom half of the standings in the skater games and it has translated accordingly in the overall standings.  These two need to get bodies back to make a big push here soon.

Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie was the recipient of a pretty good body slam to the ice this week against the Jets, not quite as bad as the choke slam we saw earlier in the season, but still a mighty tumble.  Oshie hasn't been stamped with the nasty 'c' word as of yet, but it might be coming, in terms of his upper-body injury that kept him out of Friday's game against the Avalanche.  The Capitals don't play again until Monday night, so we will probably hear more about the injury before then.  For now, he's listed as day-to-day.

Tony's team has been finding its legs this week in the hockey pool, up in the weekly scoring race with 18 points, but the good news here is, there wasn't any more scheduled games for Oshie and the Capitals, so he wouldn't be "missing" more time by not playing.  It will be interesting to see if Tony's team can keep up this pace for the Newsletter.
