Coyotes' Raanta on the IR
The Arizona Coyotes have been pleased with the play that they have received from goaltender Antti Raanta, but they have had to place him on the Injured Reserve with a lower-body injury, after he reportedly had tweaked something in practice on Tuesday. He's officially day-to-day, but his placement on the IR means that he won't be eligible to come back until Tuesday of next week.
Raanta has already missed some time, including last night in Philadelphia and will definitely miss weekend games in Pittsburgh and Washington, through a pretty important trip for the team.
The veteran keeper has appeared nine games for the Coyotes this season, posting 5 wins and 11 points, good enough for 133rd overall in pool scoring, which is 20th among all goalies. That's a pretty good return from an Arizona goalie, compared to seasons previous.
The loss of Raanta has already put a dent in Brian's season total, as his team has taken a bit of a dive this week, dropping from 2nd place to 6th place. It was going to be tough for his team to collect points through this road trip, but having the opportunity is certainly much better than not. It sounds like Darcy Kuemper will get the nod at least one more time this weekend, good news for Stuart's 3rd place team.
