Morning Player Notes (Nov 18)
The Rangers had lots going on in their lineup on Saturday night and some of it was indeed pool related. Ryan Strome joined the lineup for the first time, getting his new start under the bright lights. Brady Skjei was a healthy scratch for the first time this season, having only 1 goal and 7 points in 19 games, he was likely in need of a kick in the pants to get going again. Finally, Mats Zuccarello's return from a groin injury only lasted one game, as he was back on the shelf on Saturday, missing the game against the Panthers with this recurring injury. Both Skjei and Zuccarello are considered to be day-to-day, the injury being more of a concern, something we'll likely keep a close eye on.
Strome comes in for Tony's team, no points in his Rangers debut, while Skjei misses a skater game for Clayton's team and Zuccarello misses a game for John P.'s team. Both Clayton and John didn't really miss their Rangers players so much, since they are both atop the weekly scoring standings through Saturday night.
An undisclosed injury landed Jaden Schwartz back on the shelf on Saturday night. The Blues forward was hurt on Friday night against Vegas, leaving the game in the 3rd period and not returning, he was also unable to play Saturday night against the Sharks. It has been a bumpy season for him, early on in the 2019 year, but he is still putting up some reasonable numbers, 2 goals and 9 points in 15 games, but certainly, they are not where they are expected to be. For now, he'll be listed as out day-to-day.
For Wes' team, Schwartz was his 4th round pick, 79th overall, and Wes hasn't been getting that kind of production from him, ranking 257th after Saturday, but nevertheless, his team has been sticking it out, ranking 10th in the standings, still well within striking range of the money.
