Injury Problems in Boston

The Boston Bruins started a stretch on Saturday night, where they won't be playing with either Zdeno Chara or Patrice Bergeron for a little while and that could make it a really tough stretch.

On Saturday, it was announced that the team's captain suffered an MCL injury on Wednesday and that he will be reevaluated in four weeks time, hoping that his knee will be able to return right away or need some more time.  The 41-year old has been huge in the defensive end for the Bruins, so this could be a tough loss on a blueline that has already been suffering through injuries.

Bergeron, on the other hand, hurt on Friday night, but played out the game against the Stars, did not play on Saturday night in Arizona, instead went back home to Boston to get his upper-body injury checked out further by team doctors.  The Bruins don't play again until Wednesday night in Detroit, so there will be time to go over the top scoring forward and see if he can join the team again, so for now, he'll be considered day-to-day, until otherwise noted.

Chara wasn't exactly doing a great deal for Benson's pool team before the injury, 4 points in 18 games, but Bergeron was a huge part of Eric's team, 26 points in 19 games, so clearly, this bit of news will likely impact Eric's team far more than Benson's, but neither team has had much luck of late, dropping in the standings this week.
