The word on the street is that Scott Niedermayer will let Ducks GM Brian Burke know his intentions for the 2009 season on Friday, before the Draft commences. This is a far better alternative for the Ducks, poolies and quite possibly Niedermayer as well, to have his intentions known earlier than mid-season.
Niedermayer is set to make $6.75 million this season with the Ducks on the last year of his contract. He did manage to play 48 games last season, scoring 8 goals and 17 assists in the process.
In the last team update, the All-Star defenseman is listed as an active member, despite not actually knowing what his intentions are. The Ducks could make some significant moves at the Draft if he decides not to play.
