Counting down the hours until the free agent frenzy on Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Lightning want to be sure they are already in the pool before anyone else makes a splash. The Lightning moved a conditional pick to the Pittsburgh Penguins for the rights to deal with forwards Ryan Malone and Gary Roberts before the frenzy begins. Both Malone and Roberts are ready to become unrestricted free agents on Tuesday, but they both could be full time Lightning players before then. In return, the Penguins get a fourth round pick for next summer, unless Malone does in fact sign in Tampa. If so, the Pens will receive a third round pick instead.
