The Panthers moved to clear a line-up spot for some new blood by buying out centre Jozef Stumpel on Thursday. Stumpel, 35, was slated to be a $2.25 million salary cap hit this season, but his injury problems and lack of production could very well be solid reasoning as to why the veteran was dismissed from his contract. The Slovakia native played in only 52 games last season, scoring 7 goals and adding 13 assists.
Friday, Stumpel was officially bought out by the Panthers and will not suit up for the team in Miami next season. His pool value has dropped significantly over the last year and may not recover from of this tail spin.
