Devils Rest Parise

It was quite the surprise to everyone involved to see Zach Parise's name on the scratch list for the New Jersey Devils last night, but there he was, not playing against the Flyers. The word out of Devils camp is that Parise missed the game due to an upper-body injury. The injury is not considered major and shouldn't effect Parise's spot with the USA Olympic Team, so there shouldn't be any panic there.

There is no word on whether or not Parise will play in either of the last two games before the break for the Devils, which is Friday at home to Nashville and Saturday in Carolina. There's a part of me which would think he would get rested for one or both games, not risking further injury, but you know how much of a gamer Parise is. He'll probably play both.

ImplicationsBenson finished the night in the Draft in 6th place, where he started the week, but has slipped on his lead to 7th place, where Clayton now only sits 4 points behind. Benson could have used Parise on Wednesday night and really hopes that he'll be in the line-up for both Friday & Saturday, or else he might slip a position going into the Olympics.
