The Bruins Win the Cup, The Pool Money Handed Out!

There's something to be said about the most consistent team through six games of the Stanley Cup Finals... it's that the most consistent team should win the Stanley Cup.  If you haven't been paying too much attention, my previews had said that Boston was the most consistent team, keeping games close when they lose and playing really well when they won.  Well, in Game Seven, the hard work and crawling through the trenches paid off for the Bruins, as they beat up on the Canucks in the deciding game of the series, 4-0.

The Bruins survived an early push from the Canucks and then took the air right out of Rogers Arena when Patrice Bergeron got his stick on an errant pass into the slot, going far post, past a bewildered Roberto Luongo.  From there on, there wasn't a great deal of offense that the Canucks could muster, let alone test Tim Thomas.  The Canucks may have finished the night with 37 shots on the Bruins' goal, but the real tests were few and far between.

The Bruins were feisty, quick and efficient in Vancouver on Wednesday night and fully deserving of their win.

PhotobucketNow it becomes a matter of who had won the money! The money is what the hockey pools are all about, aren't they?  Well, let's have a peek then... shall we?

2011's winner of the top prize... Tryst'n'Grant, team owner Grant Saskiw.  Grant's team won the pool by 5 goals, the first tie-breaker, as he and the Langdon River Dogs, belonging to Dale Corley, tied for the overall lead in points with 313, so it came down to the goals scored.  A great race to the finish!  Grant comes away with $400 this year, while Dale picks up a cool $200.

All She Wrote, helmed by Justin Davis, was all alone in 3rd spot with 298 points, he picks up $100 for his effort.  Granny Smith, owned by Daphne Smith, picks up $50 for her 4th place finish in the pool, while Gary Johnson, the owner of Hollywoods Heroes, gets his money back for finishing in 5th place.

Congratulations to all of you who played, I hope to see all 76 teams back in the pool next season, each one of you bringing a friend (or two).
