The Blue Jackets announced on Friday afternoon that they had re-signed defenseman Grant Clitsome, giving him a 2-year deal, reportedly worth $2.5 million (a $1.25 million cap hit per season). The Jackets found themselves a pretty solid two-way defenseman in the past couple years in Clitsome, thus the reward before the weekend officially got started.
In 31 games in 2011, Clitsome picked up 19 points, which worked out to be a pretty good scoring rate in the NHL. He ended up ranking 89th in pool scoring among defenseman while playing less than half of the regular season, which should translate into being a good pool pick-up next season.
