2011 3rd Round Draft Pick |
It appears that the patience with Nikita Filatov has finally come to an end in Columbus, as the Blue Jackets have traded away a prospect that was once touted as a glorious offensive machine. Sadly, the Jackets could not get him to work in their system, so he was dealt for a 3rd round pick in this weekend's draft.
I was definitely someone who was high on Filatov, especially when he was drafted and I think the Senators came away like bandits with this deal. Filatov should still have plenty of potential left in his small frame and the Senators play a much more wide open game than the Blue Jackets, so this deal should work just beautifully for Ottawa. I would say, right now, that this is a stupendous move by the Senators, one that may save Bryan Murray's job for much longer.
