The Blues announced on Thursday that they have re-signed defenseman Nikita Nikitin to a new 1-year, one-way deal worth $600,000. Nikitin was scheduled to become a restricted free agent after a season where he picked up 9 points in 41 games for St. Louis. A one-way deal should give him some extra confidence and a leg up on making the team next season, where he could possibly improve his numbers into a draft-worthy defenseman.
The Blues have been busy signing up their potential free agents, obviously liking their core group of players that they have at the moment. Nikitin was one of those players that I did have outlined in the Pool Outlook as an RFA they'll be looking at re-signing. This now gives the Blues a solid six defensemen already signed up this Summer.
