Penguins Re-Sign Dupuis

The Pittsburgh Penguins started to look after some of their own house cleaning on Tuesday, re-signing veteran forward Pascal Dupuis to a new 2-year deal, reportedly worth $3 million, a $1.5 million cap hit.

The 32-year old Dupuis brought a definite veteran presence to the Penguins over the past few seasons and is quite versatile through the line-up.  On an injury-plagued Pittsburgh team, Dupuis finished the season with 37 points (17 goals and 20 assists) in 81 games, which has a definite chance of going back up, figuring that the health of the two superstars should be closer to 100% at the beginning of the regular season.

Salary CapThe Penguins have a lot of players already locked up and they should now be looking for a bit more depth up front, with all of their potential defense and goalies signed on.  Currently, I have the Penguins in at $57 million, leaving about $7.3 million to spend on four or five forwards.
