The Vancouver Canucks are preparing to be without forward Alexandre Burrows for tonight's game against the Edmonton Oilers and then what appears to be the next couple of weeks as well. This was the word from coach John Tortorella after the morning skate in Vancouver on Saturday.
Burrows was held off the scoresheet against the San Jose Sharks, in the 4-1 loss, and it sounds like he suffered the injury blocking a shot with his head/face/visor. There was no real updates from the coach, just to say that he'll likely be out for those couple of weeks.
Update: It appears that the injury is an ankle injury, taking a shot off the ankle in the game against San Jose. Makes a little bit more sense and he'll miss some time as his ankle heals.
This means that Tony D. will be without Burrows for the final two games of the week and beyond. Tony goes into Saturday night's action in 12th place, 10 points out of 1st place, and won't have both Burrows and David Clarkson for the rest of the weekend. Tony has also lost Ryan Miller to a lower-body injury, so the rest of his weekend doesn't look terribly promising.
