Last Team to Earn Goalie Points (Oct 12)

Friday night did no favours to our list. Five teams went into the night, two teams had a possibility, one longer odds than the other, to get knocked off, but there was no luck for either team.

First, Cindy saw a little bit of luck, as her goalie, Dan Ellis, took to the Dallas nets after Kari Lehtonen suffered a lower-body injury, but by that time, the Stars already had scored more than enough goals to give Lehtonen the win, after he left the game.  Ellis, however, will get the start tonight, but we'll touch on that a little more later.

John had the best chance of getting off the list, as New Jersey was in Calgary to play the Flames, but the Flames kept on rolling on their early season pace, defeating Martin Brodeur and the Devils, keeping John on the list for at least another day.

Saturday is going to be a busy day in the NHL, which means it will be a busy day in the draft as well.  We have 11 games going and since we're still so early in the season, there will be all kinds of movement in the pool.  Here are the standings for the five teams still waiting for goalie points: Tony (16th), Cindy (18th), Stacey C. (20th), John (23rd) and Stuart (24th).

Instead of listing all the games to be played, I'll list off the games to watch today...

Edmonton @ Toronto... I would have to believe that Devan Dubnyk will continue to get the starts, as the Oilers have to get behind him to move forward this season.  Dubnyk will be in tough against the Leafs, but Stacey C. needs that win.

Philadelphia @ Detroit... With Steve Mason getting the start yesterday, Ray Emery should be getting the start for the Flyers on Saturday night against the Red Wings, which would give Cindy a key start tonight.

Colorado @ Washington... It doesn't look like Braden Holtby is getting the start tonight, as it was announced on Friday that Michal Neuvirth will be getting the green light against the Avalanche.  Stacey C. already has a potential start tonight, so he could still come off the list.

Buffalo @ Chicago... the winless Sabres have a pair of goalies in question on this list and it will be Ryan Miller that gets the nod over Jhonas Enroth.  This means Tony gets another shot to get off the list, while Stuart sits and watches.

New York @ St. Louis... it looks like it'll be Jaroslav Halak in the net for the Blues, but I know Tony is hoping that Brian Elliott will get his first look here soon.

Dallas @ Minnesota... with the Kari Lehtonen injury in the books, Cindy likely gets another key start tonight with Dan Ellis, the likely starter for the Stars.

Ottawa @ San Jose... since this is a late game, the starters have not been announced for this one and there is a chance that Stuart might get a start off of this one, as the Senators coaching staff have said that Robin Lehner will get one of the last three games of the road trip and tonight is a possibility.

How does this look overall?  Well, it looks like Cindy should get two kicks at the can tonight, while Stacey C. should get one and Tony should get one as well.  Stuart has an outside chance at one, so stay tuned.  John is the only one that is completely off the board tonight, so one will definitely remain after tonight.
