Saturday saw 11 games on the schedule and five teams in the pool without goalie points, heading in, and things didn't improve any. Absolutely no improvement, even though that plenty of goalies were playing, as it was laid out yesterday morning. I think the only person who should be glad about the whole thing is John S., who didn't have a goalie playing on Saturday night and now he is still on the list with the four other teams.
Devan Dubnyk started for the Oilers, but they blew a number of leads to the Toronto Maple Leafs and eventually lost in overtime, 6-5, which kept Stacey C. on the list. Ray Emery did, in fact, get the start for the Flyers, but Cindy couldn't get a win, as the Flyers lost, 5-2 to the Red Wings. Ryan Miller remained winless on the 2014 season, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Chicago Blackhawks, which meant that Tony stays on the list of winless pool teams. Even with two kicks at the can, Cindy just didn't have much luck, as Dan Ellis dropped his first start of the season, 5-1 to the Minnesota Wild. Finally, it was speculated that Robin Lehner would get a start, as the Senators finished a long road trip to start the season, and he did get a start, Saturday in San Jose. Lehner kept the Senators in the game, but couldn't get the win in the end, losing 3-2.
Five teams on the list to start the night, five teams still on the list to finish the night.
On Sunday, there are only four games in the league to finish the week. Only two games have potential minutes for our goaltenders, but neither of these two games have scheduled starts. It is believed that Cory Schneider will get the start for the Devils, who are in Winnipeg tonight, and Craig Anderson will return to the net for the Senators, who will take on the Ducks. It will be a stroke of luck if either Martin Brodeur or Robin Lehner come into these games and get a win tonight.
Looks like we'll be back next week with a better preview... I hope.
