The NHL announced on Friday afternoon that they have suspended Vancouver Canucks defenseman Alex Edler for three games for an illegal check to the head of San Jose's Tomas Hertl.
Edler will be eligible to return to the Canucks' line-up on Saturday, October 19th, when the team takes on the Pittsburgh Penguins on the road. Edler will miss games against Montreal, Philadelphia and Buffalo.
In the first five games of the season, Edler has a goal and 2 assists.
This is the second player that Tony D. has had suspended this season, as he currently has David Clarkson on the shelf, waiting for his 10-game suspension to end.
Tony currently sits in 13th place and is among the basement dwellers for Week Two and having another guy out for the weekend will only hinder his chances of staying away from the blog post. Tony only has 12 more games left to be played this weekend, which is a pool-low for the week, as he is also missing Alex Burrows to injury at the moment. This could be a rough finish to the week for Tony.
