The Kings coaching staff, despite already having a goal scored this season, hasn't been too pleased with the play of defenseman Jake Muzzin to start the year, so on Wednesday night, with the Ottawa Senators in town, Muzzin was a healthy scratch for the first time.
Muzzin is a highly-touted young defenseman, who has been coming along just fine and he was taken in the 13th round as one of Cindy's last couple picks. In three games played, he has a goal and an assist, but likely has to work on his complete game to stay in the Kings line-up.
Another mention for the injury-prone forward Joffrey Lupul, as he is currently listed as questionable for tonight's game against the Nashville Predators with a bruised calf. Lupul, who can't seem to escape long periods of time with injury, has already been dealing with some back issues in camp and now has unluckily suffered a bruised leg, which may keep him out of the game tonight. He will be listed as out day-to-day, likely expected to be back on the weekend, if he can get a game's rest.
In four games this season, Lupul already has 2 goals and 3 assists for the Leafs, scoring at better than a point-per-game pace. His absence will be noticeable in Stuart's line-up, since he has accounted for nearly a third of his points this season. Stuart currently sits in a tie for the basement at 17 points, heading into Thursday's action.
