Some good news from the Anaheim Ducks camp on Tuesday, as it sounds like forward Jakob Silfverberg will be ready to go for the team's next practice on Wednesday and he should be good to go for Saturday night in San Jose, the Ducks first game of the season.
Silfverberg was rattled pretty good by a hit from Sharks forward Raffi Torres in their last preseason game, a hit that earned Torres a 41-game suspension, citing being a serial offender.
This is good news for Eric's team, who added the young Swede in the 9th round of the draft. That's one less injured body to worry about.
In a quick bookkeeping move, the Pittsburgh Penguins demoted Olli Maatta and promoted Oskar Sundqvist, maximizing some Long Term Injured Reserve mathematics, once the salaries start counting towards the cap. Maatta isn't expected to be in the AHL for very long, as the Penguins open the season in Dallas on Thursday night and he is going to be ready to go for the game.
Dale C. shouldn't worry too much, but for the sake of actually being down in the minors, his games this week total has taken a hit for the time being. It will be restored, once the recall happens, which should be on Thursday morning.
