Goalie Announcements (Oct 5)
With opening night rosters starting to be announced, it also means that the goaltenders are also starting to get tipped for each team's opening night.
The first team to tip their hand was the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced that Jonathan Bernier will start Wednesday night against the Canadiens and Friday night in Detroit, while James Reimer will get Saturday night against the Senators. This does act as good news for both Cindy and John S., who have the two Leafs tenders to start the year. Neither are being held out for too long to start the season, both giving their pool team to stay in the chase for the goalie survivor pool this season.
The Calgary Flames are also mired in somewhat of a goaltending controversy and they announced that Karri Ramo would start over both Jonas Hiller and Joni Ortio, at home to the Vancouver Canucks. All three goalies would have to go through waivers in order to be sent down to the minors, so the Flames may be heading to the start of the season with all three goalies under their roof. Brenda & Seward will get the initial start for the Flames, but Grant and Ryan are going to have to wait patiently to see whether or not their goalies will get a shot this week.
