Forward Oskar Sundqvist and goaltender Matt Murray were two Pittsburgh Penguins rookies, who were among four cuts late on Wednesday night. Both players did have some sort of projection in the pool magazines, leading up to the draft, as Sundqvist was good for 22 points from the Sports Forecaster, while Murray was good for 4 wins from the same magazine.
Sundqvist was in pretty tough after the acquisitions through the Summer for the Penguins, while Murray was in an uphill battle for the back-up position, but certainly worked hard and played well in his preseason games. Both players are heading to the AHL, so they won't be too far away.
