Bozak & Gardner to the IR
It doesn't look like we'll be seeing either forward Tyler Bozak or defenseman Jake Gardiner in the lineup this weekend, as both players have been placed on the Injured Reserve with their respective injuries.
Bozak suffered an undisclosed injury on Friday last week and hasn't suited up for a game since, while Gardiner was hurt on Tuesday night, dealing with an upper-body injury. Bozak would be eligible to play tonight, if he was ready to go, but they have placed him on the IR in order to gain another roster spot. The team called up prospect forward Byron Froese to take Bozak's spot in the lineup.
In four games this season, Bozak has 1 goal, 1 assist and 4 PIM for the club, while in five games, Gardiner has the exact same numbers. Both players are key components to how the Maple Leafs fortunes turn out this season and if they are to miss significant time, it could be a real issue for the team.
In the pool, Allan and John R. are now without another body for now, but how long is still yet to be determined. Allan's team goes into Friday night's action in 23rd, while John's team is mired in last place, trying to find some consistent scoring. Both player's projected games to be played this week have been stricken from their totals.
