Marchand Out With a Concussion
If things were not already bad for the Boston Bruins already, they did just get a little bit worse, as the upper-body injury that was noted for forward Brad Marchand this morning, did indeed end up being a concussion. This news means that the 27-year old agitator is now on the shelf for at least the next week, going through league concussion protocol, but perhaps he could be on the shelf much longer, it's just too hard to tell.
Marchand took an elbow to the head in last night's game against the Canadiens, which was the cause of this injury.
In two games this season, the only thing that Marchand had registered was 2 PIM, keeping Brian in the PIM pool, just a little bit longer. No goals, no points, just penalty minutes.
In the midst of this week's statistical audit, just before the last game of the week on Sunday, Brian sits 15th, only 6 points out of top spot. Marchand's projected games to be played (GTW) will be struck from the totals and he'll be coming up a bit short on Monday morning.
