Scheifele Suffers Concussion

An unfortunate turn of events for the Winnipeg Jets, who were practicing on Saturday, for their return to action on Sunday, as forward Mark Scheifele collided heavily with teammate Andrew Ladd and needed to be helped off the ice.  The reports on Sunday morning is that Scheifele indeed suffered a concussion and will have to go through the league's protocol, which will force him to miss at least a week for the process.

This is a pretty huge blow to the Jets, as they reeled from a couple of big losses before the break and it won't help their side regain any confidence, starting tonight at home to the Penguins.

The young scoring forward has been good for the Jets thus far, scoring 12 goals and 22 points in 34 games this season, ranking him 118th overall in pool scoring.  That's a fair bit of offense coming out of the lineup, for an indefinite amount of time right now.

In the pool, it's a big blow to Brian's efforts for the money, as his team finished up Saturday night in 9th place, now 20 points back of 3rd place.  Scheifele has been a small contributor to his efforts in the PIM pool as well, but his team fell down to 3rd place in that race and the 16 PIM that Scheifele has accumulated thus far will have to be good enough for the time being.
