Morning Player Notes in the Draft (Jan 13)
The Carolina Hurricanes traveled back home to take on the Washington Capitals in their home-and-home series, but along the way, forward Elias Lindholm caught the bug that has been running rampant this winter and he was down for the count in this one, also taking another teammate with him in the process. Lindholm is considered to be day-to-day and he could be back for Sunday's match against the traveling Flames.
It's another touch of bad luck for Jeremy's team, which has been falling ever since he had lost some significant players to injury in recent weeks. Week Fifteen saw his team fall down to 7th place and it is already 21 points out of the money, where it sat only three weeks ago.
The Jets were also nursing some ill players on Friday night, including backup goalie Steve Mason, who was unable to dress, so the team had to make an emergency call-up to Michael Hutchinson, who took over backup duties behind Connor Hellebuyck for the game against the Blackhawks. Mason hasn't figured in much lately and wasn't penciled in for the start on Friday, so it wasn't exactly time missed, but the Jets are in Minnesota tonight and this could be a Mason start, if he is feeling up to it. It could be a missed start, if he can't go.
Troy's team can't seem to get enough traction to get out of the 16/17/18 spots in the standings these days, where he currently sees his team sit in 17th. The bye-shortened week hasn't helped a great deal either, as his team has only picked up 9 points, which is still pretty safe from the Basement Dweller nod, even on Saturday morning.
