Sbisa Back to the IR

What was thought to only be a healthy scratch situation in Vegas, turned out to be an upper-body injury and from that, turned into a surgery-requiring situation and now Luca Sbisa is on the Injured Reserve for 6-to-8 weeks.  The Golden Knights announced on Wednesday that the 27-year old defender required surgery on a hand injury to repair a ruptured tendon and it will be an extended period of time on the shelf.

This is already Sbisa's third trip to the IR, so his season has been limited to only 24 games, where he has scored 1 goal and 10 points, which is good for 459th in pool scoring, at the start of play on Wednesday night.

This long stretch on the injured list will surely force Steve's hand at the second Waiver Draft in a few weeks, possibly holding out on the move until the bonus round.  Steve hasn't had much luck recovering the value he wanted when he took Sbisa in the 9th round, 201st overall, which was possibly a tad too early for him.

The second half of the regular season will likely be more about the plus/minus competition for Steve's team, which opened Week Fifteen as the overall leader in that mini-game, so he'll be shopping for some good options on the blueline for that statistic.
