In what appears to be a forearm injury, but for official purposes, said to be an upper-body injury, Jamie McBain left last night's Hurricanes game and didn't return. McBain left the ice early in the 1st period, clutching his arm, but since the game has ended, there has been no official word on the extent of his injury. He'll be considered day-to-day for right now.
McBain belongs to Wes M. in the draft this season, a 12th round pick-up, who has done well for him this season. Unfortunately for Wes, he still sits down in 12th place overall, but is 3rd in the third segment standings, 24 points out of 1st.
A triple-whammy for the Avalanche on Friday night, as they lost to the Ducks, 6-2, and lost the services of both Paul Stastny and Milan Hejduk in the game as well. Stastny left the game with a back injury, while Hejduk left the game with a shoulder injury, neither player had their status updated, other than both are doubtful for their game tonight against the Predators. They'll be considered day-to-day until otherwise noted.
This turns out to be an interesting bit of news in the pool, as 3rd place Chris M. has Hejduk, 12 points up on 4th place Benson G., who has Stastny. Both teams are considerably up on 5th place, but if these injuries appear to be serious, this could bring that race back down to a couple of teams that would like to take their spots in the money. A very interesting proposition.
