Michalek Out Indefinitely

Milan Michalek did not dress for the Senators on Tuesday night against the Bruins and it appears to look more and more like he won't be dressing for the remainder of the season, with what could be a broken foot.  Michalek left Saturday night's game against the Flyers with an injury and it really didn't sound good from the start and it sounds like the team is waiting to hear whether or not Michalek's injury will require surgery or not.

If this is the end of the line for Michalek in the 2011 season, he will be finished with 16 goals and 13 assists in 58 games, scoring at an even half a point-per-game pace in the year, which is down from some of his better seasons, but it's fair to put that on an overall poor performance for the Senators this season.

Michalek has topped out at 66 points in his career, but it may be a stretch to see him do that again in the near future, for a rebuilding Senators team.

ImplicationsAs for the draft pool this year, this could easily be another player down for the remainder of the season for Peter H., who has struggled through the dog days of the season and looks to be dropping bodies for the stretch drive, which is not a big positive this year.  At the time of this post, Peter sits in 14th spot, 10 points up on 15th, 22 points up on 16th, so there is space to buffer himself for a while yet.
